After initial screening, the number of submissions qualified by the Jury in this Video Essay Competition is just in single digit. Hence, the Jury decided to wrap up the competition giving away Appreciation Awards to the qualified entries (A Digital Certificate & Rs. 1,000 gift voucher by email). Compliments to the Awardees.

GYS Program team would introspect on the approach and themes for GYS Guru Puraskar Awards.

Regret to announce that the response has been very poor. After initial screening, just a handful of entries were qualified for review. So, there won't be a need for Round 2 evaluation. As minimum number of entries for the contest did not reach, further announcement on Contest closure would be made on 20-Nov-2024.

About the Competition

GYS Guru Puraskar 2024 is a A National Video Essay Contest for Working High School Teachers. The objective is to identify efforts in Teaching promoting innovations by Students.

This competition is Totally Online.

Entries are submitted in Video Format and submitted via Google Form. Do read Competition Terms & Conditions below. We have given even the Evaluation Criteria to help you present a winning Entry.

The selection process involves two phases.

Phase 1 - Submission of Video
Phase 2 - Online Interview

In Phase 1, a Panel of esteemed Judges reviews the entries submitted online and would Shortlist 16 Entries into Phase 2.

In Phase 2, Teachers answer queries of a small Panel of Judges (phone call or a Zoom call) to understand the contributions and approches. They Select 8 Winners.

Competition Terms & Conditions

Language for submission is prederably English or Hindi. However, one may record in other Indian Languages too.
Any working teacher from a Government or Private school teaching 6th to 12th students can participate.
All participants will be provided with an e-certificate.
GETA will not use the submitted entry for commercial purposes. However, it may be published on GETA portals, social media channels, and collaterals.
There is NO ENTRY FEE to participate in this Competition.
Competition schedule and announcements are published on GYS Guru Puraskar website.
Evaluation or disqualification of Entries will be done by a Panel of Educators and Eminent Personalities. Decision of the Panel would be final.
Results will be published on GYS Guru Puraskar website. Winners will be intimated via phone and/or email.

Video Essay Submission Format

Entry submission is online and is primarily in Video Format.
Minimum length of the Video Essay is 5 minutes, maximum length is 7 minutes.
Maximum size of the Video is 100 MB..
One teacher can submit only one Video Essay.
Video background MUST show GYS Guru Puraskar 2024. Preferably, acknowledge the name of the Competition in the speech. This is to make sure that this video is taken for this Competition.
Video must quote and narrate personal efforts, contributions, and achivements of students guided. One's own experience. General concept will not help.
A cover page, titles, and a last page are encouraged in the video.
You would get an email acknowledgement if the submission is successful. If you do not get that email by end of next working day, contact 9966775534.
8 Prizes are announced subjected to a minimum of 200 qualified video essay submissions for a reasonable competition level. If less, the number of Awards may be reduced. Decision of the Panel would be final.
Winners would be invited to Awards Ceremony details of which would be announced after Results. Travel and Accommodation Expenses in attending the Awards Ceremony would be reimbursed by GETA Service Trust for the First Three Winners (only) up to Rs. 5,000 or actuals, which ever is lower.

Evaluation Criteria

Qualified Video Essay would be evaluated as per the criteria below. This information should help Teachers to submit with maximum conformance to Competition Terms & Conditions and improve chances of Winning. Our intent in giving this guidance is to raise the standards of Submissions.

70 Points for Content = Richness or number of initiatives, originality and authenticity of ideas, results, examples, length of speech, relevance to topic, etc.
10 Points for Presentation = Appearance in front of the Camera, attair, body language, greeting and thanking audiences, etc.
10 Points for Speech = Clarity, pace, continuity, pauses, stuttering, voice modulation, recording quality
10 Points for Language = Grammar, use of Vocabulary, Idioms, Phrases, etc.
