Myself Renu Sri.Yarasi. Iam glad to participate in this contest and share my views about the problems which are being faced by society. On this context I would like to share some problems which are being faced by track workers. According to INTERNATIONAL UNION of RAILWAYS, Indian Railways ranks forth rank after United States of America, Russia and China. Indian Railways has the annual turnover of Rupees 2.4 lakh crore which is not a small sum and contributes 1.5% to the countrys GDP by building infrastructure to support 45% of the economys modal freight share. Inspite of all these properties there are many problems which are being faced by track workers. And these problems are not rectified even though they easily rectifiable. No proper facilities for track workers: While I was travelling to Vijayawada by train, train had stopped at Peddavadlapudi which is a small station and there is a crossing due to which I have observed bitter condition of track workers. I personally felt very bad for their condition. They are not provided with proper rooms, beds, washrooms.I have seen a woman bathing at a pump, other cooking rotis and some curry and children sleeping. Noticeable thing is that these things were done on the platform while railway passengers watching. I heard that they were not given proper wages which is unfair to pay such low wages when compared to the work they are doing. It is pitiful thing that they are neither given proper wages nor facilities. Resulting in the unsafe and unhealthy Life style for them. It is the responsibility of Railway Department to take care that they are given proper facilities and proper wages inorder to compete with the daily needs. This is so sad that they were unable to send their children to school due to less wages. Our Indian Railway is financially stable which can easily rectify the issues which are being faced by track workers. Thank you for giving this opportunity to share my views about a problem.
