Sewage recycling and management is a growing global concern due to the increasing volume of wastewater generated by expanding urban populations, industries, and agriculture. Mismanagement of sewage leads to serious health, environmental, and economic problems. Inadequate sewage treatment results in the discharge of untreated waste water into waterbodies which affect marine life and contaminates drinking water. This leads multiple health issues such as hepatitis dysentery cholera etc. Due to poor sewage management, drainage systems often become clogged, causing wastewater to overflow onto streets. This is a common and serious urban problem, especially in rapidly growing cities and poorly planned settlements.
