🧠 Problem Title: The Toxic Rainbow: How Textile Dyes are Killing the Indrayani and Global Rivers.
📝 Problem Description

I live in Pune Maharashtra, and I have observed something very upsetting. Indrayani river is supposed to be a source of life, but many times, I see the water turning unnatural colors like dark red, deep purple, or even ink-black, greenish. And even toxic foam is moving freely on river surface. After looking at my surroundings, I realized this is happening because of the textile factories that dye our clothes. While we all love wearing colorful outfits, these colors are stealing the life from our water. This is not just a local problem; it is a global disaster. Rivers like the Noyyal in TamilNadu South India and the Buri Ganga in Bangladesh and Citarum river Indonesia are also "dying" because of these same toxic chemical dyes., Through my observations, I have identified three main problems:, First, these dyes act like a thick, dark blanket on top of the water. This blocks sunlight from reaching the bottom. In school, I learned that underwater plants need sunlight to make oxygen. When the water turns dark, plants die, the oxygen disappears, and the fish eventually suffocate. The river becomes a "dead zone" where nothing can live., Second, these dyes are not just "paint." They contain dangerous "Heavy Metals" like Lead and Mercury. I have seen that this dirty water is often used by farmers for crops, and animals drink it too. This means the poison from the factories eventually ends up in our food and our bodies, making people very sick., Third, small factories dont have a better choice. Natural dyes are hard to find, so they use cheap, toxic chemicals instead. My observation is that we are trading our clean drinking water for fast-fashion colors. We must find a way to get "Infinite Shades" of color without turning our lifelines into chemical drains. We need to save the Indrayani and all rivers before it is too late.
