🧠 Problem Title: Slipping on wet bathroom floors
📝 Problem Description

Slipping on wet bathroom floors is a deceptively simple yet widespread hazard that causes thousands of injuries every year. Bathrooms are inherently high‑risk environments because they combine smooth surfaces, frequent water use, and confined spaces. When water spills from showers, sinks, or buckets, it creates a thin, nearly invisible film on tiles. This drastically reduces friction, making even cautious steps unstable. Unlike outdoor slips, bathroom falls often occur in tight quarters where the body collides with hard fixtures—bathtubs, sinks, or toilet edges—intensifying injury severity.
The physics of slipping is straightforward: smooth ceramic or marble tiles have low slip resistance when wet, and soap residues or cleaning agents further reduce traction. Elderly individuals, children, and people with mobility challenges are particularly vulnerable, as their balance and reflexes are less reliable. Even healthy adults are at risk, especially when rushing, multitasking, or stepping out of showers barefoot.
Underlying causes include poor design choices such as glossy tiles, lack of anti‑slip mats, and inadequate drainage systems that allow water to pool. Cultural habits—like washing floors daily with excess water or using buckets instead of enclosed showers—exacerbate the problem in many regions. In multi‑story apartments, water leakage from bathrooms can also damage ceilings below, creating secondary hazards.
The consequences extend beyond physical injury. Falls can result in fractures, head trauma, or spinal damage, leading to long recovery periods and costly medical care. For elderly residents, a single bathroom fall can trigger permanent disability or loss of independence. Families face emotional stress and financial strain, while healthcare systems absorb preventable trauma cases. The fear of slipping discourages free movement, reducing comfort and confidence in one’s own home.
