Microchips and microcontrollers are manufactured using extremely advanced machines called semiconductor fabrication machines, which involve highly precise processes such as layering, etching, and patterning materials at microscopic levels. These machines are extremely expensive, complex, and only available in highly developed industrial environments in foreign countries.
Because of this, students and school-level students and learners dont get the opportunities to understand how microchips and controllers are actually manufactured, really, and their learning remains limited to theory, diagrams, and simulations, without any practical exposure to the real fabrication process and point of view in real factories.
This creates a gap between learning electronics and understanding how real-world hardware is built at a microscopic scale. If a simplified, safe, and educational model of a chip fabrication machine could be designed, it would allow students to practically understand the step-by-step process of how a microchip is made—from design patterning to layer formation.
The challenge is to imagine and make a low-cost, safe, and educational architecture model that demonstrates the principles of semiconductor fabrication in a simplified way, made for school labs and young learners.
