Foothill and hilly regions are environmentally sensitive areas where soil stability and natural vegetation play an important role in preventing landslides. However, it is often observed that unplanned construction activities, hill cutting, and mining operations take place in some regions without proper environmental management.
In many situations, removal of vegetation, excavation of slopes, and excessive land disturbance may weaken soil stability. During heavy rainfall, these disturbed areas can become more vulnerable to landslides, soil erosion, and road collapses.
I have observed reports and visible signs of hill cutting, roadside excavation, and unstable slopes in foothill areas. Frequent landslides may block roads, damage infrastructure, affect local communities, and disturb natural ecosystems.
This problem highlights the gap between development activities and environmental safety practices in sensitive geographic regions. Sustainable land management and safer construction practices are important for reducing landslide risks.
