During examinations, teachers are often required to evaluate a large number of answer sheets within a limited period of time. From my personal experience, I once noticed that the marks awarded in my answer sheet did not seem to match the quality of my responses. Curious about this, I discussed the issue with a teacher and learned that evaluating hundreds of papers continuously can be physically and mentally exhausting.
At the beginning of the evaluation process, teachers are usually energetic and focused, which helps them identify mistakes accurately and award marks fairly. However, after checking 100–200 answer sheets or more, fatigue, eye strain, and reduced concentration may affect their efficiency. As a result, small spelling mistakes, calculation errors, unanswered questions, or even correctly written responses may sometimes be overlooked. In some cases, marks may be added incorrectly or evaluation standards may vary between papers checked earlier and those checked later.
This challenge becomes more significant because teachers are often given limited time to complete the evaluation process. The pressure to finish checking a large volume of answer sheets within strict deadlines can further increase mental fatigue and reduce consistency in assessment.
Since examination results play an important role in a students academic performance and future opportunities, even minor evaluation inaccuracies can have a noticeable impact. Therefore, maintaining consistency and accuracy in answer sheet evaluation remains an important challenge in the education system.
