Students today demonstrate exceptional creativity and technical skills when solving predefined problems in competitions, hackathons, and academic projects. However, many struggle to identify real-world problems independently. Despite having access to vast information through the internet, students often lack awareness of current affairs, societal challenges, local community issues, and emerging global trends. As a result, innovation becomes solution-focused rather than problem-focused.
A major reason is limited exposure to real-life situations beyond classrooms. Academic systems emphasize answering questions rather than discovering them. Students spend significant time on curriculum-based learning but less time observing their surroundings, engaging with communities, or understanding challenges in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, environment, education, transportation, and public services.
This gap restricts the impact of student innovations. Many projects are technically sound but fail to address genuine needs. Without strong observational and analytical skills, students miss opportunities to create meaningful solutions and entrepreneurial ventures.
The challenge is to develop a system that helps students continuously explore current affairs, analyse real-world issues, strengthen observation skills, and identify high-impact problems worth solving.
