Detailed Problem Description
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottles are widely used for drinking water, soft drinks, and packaged beverages. Due to increasing consumer demand and improper waste management practices, billions of PET bottles are discarded every year. A large percentage of these bottles are not recycled and end up in landfills, rivers, lakes, oceans, and open environments.
PET plastic is non-biodegradable and can remain in nature for 450–500 years before decomposing. During this period, it breaks down into microplastics that contaminate soil, water, and food chains. The continuous accumulation of PET waste contributes significantly to environmental pollution, ecosystem degradation, and global warming.
